NarraScope Showcase 2025 Patch
17 Days Was Not Enough
No Truce With The Groceries was originally made for the Pompous Trash Jam 2025. It was great fun, but unfortunately a lot of key features had to be cut. Seventeen days is really not that long. The game was not yet finished; so much more could be done. So, after two more weeks of work, some of the content that didn't make the deadline is now in!
Some highlights:
- The game's interface, sound, music, and more changes as you build affinity with Great Americans. These all seamlessly layer together for an audio-visual indication of what kind of American you are.
- The first time you enter most scenes, there will be a random event. It will take a number of playthroughs to see all of these events. This makes shopping more exciting.
- There is less clicking "next" involved when the Great Americans in your head start to argue with each other.
- Various minor fixes and UI improvements
- The main menu matches the theme a little better and includes the game's title.
NarraScope
The impetus for doing this, other than some nonsense about self-actualization and finishing projects, was NarraScope 2025. New this year is a showcase of narrative games. It is organized right here on Itch! They'd rather see new games, but frankly this thing is less than a month old. Surely that's new enough by any standard, right? In any case, we've entered the game into that competition. Wish us luck!
Having a target (and a deadline) is a great motivator. Many things that didn't make the first deadline made it to this one, but I'm sorry to report that there are still other things that I would like to see in the game that did not make this deadline either. Will there be more patches? I can commit to a firm "definitely maybe." As ever, I would love to hear your thoughts of this game of ours.
